§ 7.6. Publication of ordinances.

Latest version.
  • Each ordinance passed by the commission shall be published at least once within 14 days after its adoption in a newspaper of local circulation in the city. The publication of any ordinance in full after its final passage as a part of the published proceedings of the commission shall constitute publication of such ordinance as required herein. All ordinances and revisions, alterations, or amendments of same shall be recorded by the clerk in a book to be called "The Ordinance Book," and it shall be the duty of the mayor and clerk to authenticate such records by their official signatures thereon.

Editor's note

The charter requirement of publication prior to operation is superseded by state statute. A city may publish a summary instead, provided that the summary includes the designation of a location in the city where a true copy of the ordinance can be inspected or obtained. See MCL 117.3(k).
